Visit from West Park Academy

Year 2 students from West Park Academy came to visit our building site yesterday, to learn about how houses are built. Our Site Foreman Michael showed them round, and they had lots of great questions to ask him. This visit is part of their module on Mega Structures. We really enjoyed having them all over, and we hope they learned a lot.

Welcome to the beginning of a new year, and a new chapter, that could be spent in a new home at Westpark Garden Village, Darlington. The new phase of our development, Winding Way, features a mix of stunning two, three and four bedroom houses, all available with the ‘Help to Buy’ scheme.

With ‘Help to Buy’ making new homes affordable for both first-time and existing buyers, there has never been a better time to buy. You will need a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage to secure a home using this scheme. The remaining 20% is provided by the government as an equity loan which is interest-free for five years.

As new-build properties, these homes enjoy the benefit of being virtually maintenance-free, giving you more time to do the things you enjoy – whether that’s entertaining family and friends or simply putting your feet up. Fitted with the latest technology and appliances they are, on average, six times more energy efficient than older styles home – saving you money on your energy bills.

Westpark Services Corridor Landscaping Works

Bussey & Armstrong have received planning approval to carry out landscaping works to the services corridor that runs from Edward Pease Way through Collingsway to John Fowler Way.

Works will commence over Winter/Spring 2016.

The work will involve treating the existing meadows, re-levelling the ground, creating a network of formal and informal footpath links with perimeter beech hedges and tree planting.  The project is being funded by Bussey and Armstrong and the land will ultimately be adopted by Darlington Borough Council as public open space.

Green-Flag-Award-750x410

West Park has been given the Green Flag Award, which recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country.

A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

Officially opened in 2005, West Park was the first new park created in Darlington in 100 years, and boasts 12 hectares of woodlands, meadows and wetlands.

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme.

“All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the thousands of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
