House Design Competition Winners

After their visit to the construction site earlier this month, Year 2 students from Westpark Academy worked hard to produce a floorplan for their fantasy dream home. We were really impressed with their creativity, and each of them had their own style. Who wouldn’t want a party and chocolate room!

B&A Director Tony Cooper chose a winning design from each class and visited the school to hand out prizes. Jasmine from Class 3 and Dayo from Class 4 were the well-deserved winners with their original and detailed designs. They each won a Jenga set.

Visit from West Park Academy

Year 2 students from West Park Academy came to visit our building site yesterday, to learn about how houses are built. Our Site Foreman Michael showed them round, and they had lots of great questions to ask him. This visit is part of their module on Mega Structures. We really enjoyed having them all over, and we hope they learned a lot.

West Park receives Green Flag Award

West Park has been given the Green Flag Award, which recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country.

A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

Officially opened in 2005, West Park was the first new park created in Darlington in 100 years, and boasts 12 hectares of woodlands, meadows and wetlands.

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme.

“All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the thousands of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
